It's a significant financial outlay to have a gas heater installed or replaced, and like any other piece of mechanical equipment, they do undergo wear and tear over time (especially in Victoria!). Ideally, we want to get as much life out of our appliances, or as much bang for our buck, as possible - so maintenance is key.
A heater operating properly, not straining to function because it's fan is full of dust and fluff, or a part is needing an adjustment, is going to save you money over time. Not to mention there is definitely also the importance of checking that your heater is safe and free from carbon monoxide spillage.
We know times are tough right now, and every cent counts, but a lovely, decade-long customer of ours, who is really detail oriented (and a retired maths teacher), recently explained her perspective around the cost of heater servicing when she called to book in and we were having a chat about the economy and things in general.
She said, "you know, my gas log fire cost me $7,000 to have installed 8 years ago and I love it. I have it serviced once every second year when you send me the reminder. That service works out to be less than 45 cents per day, or $3.125 per week to be precise (did I mention she was a maths teacher?!!) - so it's a heck of a lot cheaper than my daily cappuccino Karen - and I want to get another good 8 or 9 years out of this heater if I can!"
We're hearing you Mrs. H.
