With no additional cost to Barwon Water customers, this is great news for the Geelong region’s water supply.
Barwon Water will now be able to access more water from the Victorian water grid, after completing and turning on a new pump station connected to the Melbourne to Geelong pipeline at Lovely Banks.
Quote from the Minister for Water, Lisa Neville: “The Melbourne to Geelong pipeline was designed to be an insurance policy against future drought and its proven its worth in recent years.”
“Having the pipeline – and the new extension – provides us with greater flexibility so we can deliver water where and when it is most needed.”
