So pretty isn’t it? Actually it’s not – it’s legionnaires bacteria.
To prevent bacteria growth, particularly legionnaires, hot water should be set at a minimum of 60°C in your hot water unit cylinder, and then regulated for your bathing outlets, through the tempering valve, to between 38°C – 50°C . It’s very important to note that our regulations state that hot water temperatures must not exceed 50°C at outlets that are used for bathing. The recommended setting for very young children is 37°C – 38°C. Hot water scalding is not something you want to have to deal with.
If you are in doubt about your hot water unit’s temperatures, don’t take any chances. Give us a call and we can set things up safely for your peace of mind.
