When we service and safety check a heater, there is a legislated 31-point checklist to work though. There are various tests we perform to make sure that your heater’s components fall within certain parameters, indicating that it’s functioning to necessary guidelines – the manufacturer’s guidelines, plumbing regulations and Australian Standards.
The heater needs to be taken apart for this to happen. Make sure you see this occur when you have your heater serviced – and ask for a copy of the report. A copy needs to be provided to you and also lodged with the Victorian Building Authority.
Play it safe with gas and have your gas heaters serviced and safety checked at least every two years, to not only check for any carbon monoxide spillage, but to also make sure your heater is running as efficiently as possible.
