It’s important to note that you should see your heater taken apart during a service and safety check. Your technician should strip the heater down before they start cleaning it, so the condition of the various internal components can be determined.
There’s a comprehensive process of things to check, including the inlet gas pressure, the gas burner pressure, and the thermostat, among other things, before the carbon monoxide test can be carried out.
Only a gas fitter licensed in Type A Gas Appliance Servicing can service and carbon monoxide test your gas heater.
Play it safe with gas. Have your gas heaters serviced and safety checked at least every two years – and make sure you check your gas fitter’s licence to ensure they have a tick in the right spot.
