I was super chuffed to receive the Excellence in Sustainability award at the Plumbing and Fire Industry Awards on Thursday night.
In my business, I’ve always worked with an environmentally friendly mind set by advocating for water saving, water protection and energy saving.
Whether you’re a small or large organisation, you can be a conduit for more environmentally viable options within your particular industry and connect your customers to more sustainable solutions.
I’m also really passionate about moving away from 100% natural gas, to more sustainable natural gas/hydrogen/bio blended fuel options – which would probably surprise a lot of people, because my main source of income at the moment focuses around installing, servicing and repairing gas appliances.
I think we’ll definitely see 100% hydrogen gas appliances in the not-too-distant future. This will provide an ideal opportunity for plumbers to upskill in hydrogen and bio-gases and prepare for the future.
But it’s really about the bigger industry picture and learning about where we can do better - by innovating, developing, adapting, and hopefully coming out at the end with kinder-to-the-earth processes and products.
