Geelong gas ducted heating service & repair – common faults

Common heater faults for gas ducted/central heaters

Here are a few common faults that occur with gas ducted/central heaters, that may point you in the right direction as to what’s happening with your heating unit.

“My heater keeps turning itself off”

The over-temperature switch is possibly turning the unit off – and this can be caused by a few things, including not enough vents being open, the return air vent filter may be dirty, or perhaps it’s a faulty fan.

“The controller/thermostat isn’t working”

Check your batteries!  It happens quite regularly that the only issue with the controller is that the batteries have gone flat!  Also make sure the controller is fixed tightly to the wall.

“My heater’s not igniting”

This can often be due to a faulty electronic control board.

These types of issues are generally easily rectified by a licenced plumber and gas fitter.
